InfraGard Events in Missouri
Meeting Minutes for the November 09, 2006 InfraGard Central Missouri Members Alliance
meeting held at the Department of Natural Resources, Jefferson City Meeting called to order by President Morris at 10:15 A.M. An introduction was made of the attendees to the meeting.
Old Business:
- Minutes of the previous meeting were presented to the membership for approval. Motion and second made to accept the minutes as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Nominations for Officers and Directors:
- President Morris opened the meeting to nominations for officers and directors. Nominations were as follows:
- Rodney Jones for Board Member was nominated by Paul Cordia
- Jesse Hathcock for Board Member was nominated by Gail Morris
- Tim Love for Vice-President was nominated by Paul Cordia
- Randy Raw for President was nominated by Rodney Jones
- Lori Kleckner for Secretary/Treasurer was nominated by Randy Raw
- Dennis Pashia for Board Member was nominated by Paul Monda
Nominations will close on December 11th as in accordance with Chapter by-laws, to allow for 30 days before the January 11th elections.
Upcoming Events and Training:
- The MOREnet Security Symposium will be held on November 28-29 in Columbia. Highlights of the event were presented.
- MOREnet is currently negotiating to offer SANS 504 – Hacker Techniques in June.
- MS-ISAC is finalizing details to offer the SANS 401 on-line course in January. Priority registration will be given to those who were on the waiting list for the previous 401 class offered.
- The Mid-West Consolidated Security Forum will be held in Kansas at the end of April. The location will allow for overnight lodging in Missouri for those who wish to avoid out-of-state lodging. An invitation has been extended to anyone who is interested in presenting at the Forum.
Open Discussion:
- InfraGard Stuff. Items to purchase with the InfraGard logo are available at www.infragardstuff.com. Items for specific Chapters are available by choosing the Chapter name.
- Liability insurance is available for the Chapter at the annual rate of $400.00. If we wish to obtain insurance, we would need to find a means to raise the required funds.
- Remaining membership cards have been mailed to members at their address listed with InfraGard.
- Members were reminded that infragard.org is the national secure site, while infragard.net is public.
- The Missouri Private Public Partnership, a Homeland Security initiative, is in the process of setting up critical sectors. Organizational meetings are being attended by our InfraGard Chapter president.
Information Sharing:
- MIAC offered their website www.miacx.org to register as a partner.
- Chris Jones, FBI, will be relocating to the MIAC and reminded the members that he may be called at any time to report incidents, cyber or otherwise.
- Members were reminded not to open emails from unknown sources or emails that were not expected. Trojan variants are increasing in volume and the inability to detect.
- The Disaster Recovery presentation from Johns Hopkins will be made available on the MOREnet site as well as the recordings from the October 26th Internet Security Night, ‘How Do I Keep My Kids Safe?’
- The topic for the next MOREnet web cast (Wednesday) will be Social Networking. To join the MOREnet security mailing list, send a request to security@more.net
