Meeting Minutes for the January 12, 2006 InfraGard Central Missouri Members Alliance

meeting held at the Secretary of State Interpretive Center, Jefferson City, MO

Meeting called to order at 10:09. Introductions were made and the minutes from the September and November 2005 meetings were distributed, reviewed, and approved (motion was moved and accepted).

Business

  • Two board positions are now open. R.D. Porter from the Office of Administration, Randy Raw from MOREnet and Mike Harris from the University of Missouri Healthcare Systems have volunteered. The election will be held at the March 9, 2006 meeting.
  • Theresa Frommel from the Office of State Courts Administrator was volunteered to replace John Bax who has resigned as Secretary/Treasurer. The Board of Directors will appoint a replacement when they meet next month.
  • The "Regional Representative" program was discussed at the 2005 InfraGard National Congress. The local chapters are divided into regions and elect a rep to further regional issues and communicate directly with the National board. The Midwest Region presidents elected Larry Shattuck, a past president of the Michigan Chapter. Regional Reps (in addition to chapter presidents) will attend the national congress at the FBI's expense.

Upcoming Events

  • Annual Infrastructure Security Forum – Will be in Kansas City in May (rather than August) of 2006. This is a 3-day event and will cost around $200. InfraGard is hosting along with the International Systems Security Association (ISSA), American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) and the Kansas City Security Council.
  • SANS Forensics – MOREnet is hosting the SANS Forensics class June 12 - 17, 2006 at the Stoney Creek Inn in Columbia. Law enforcement, education personnel and students can attend for $1,000. Others can attend for $2,985. Infragard members get a 10% discount at $2,485. Rooms at the Stoney Creek are $67 per night. Attendees can pay $300 for the GIAC certification. Meals will be provided. Gail will resend the notification.
  • SANS Firewall, Perimeter Protection and VPN – The Higher Education IT Security Conference (HITS) 2006 is hosting the SANS Firewall, Perimeter Protection and VPN class May 21 - 25, 2006 at the University of Missouri Memorial Union. Rooms at the Stoney Creek are $67 per night. Gail will resend the notification.
  • How To Use SecCheckMOREnet is conduction training during January. See the MOREnet website for details.
  • Securing HP Printers – MOREnet is conduction training during February. See the MOREnet website for details.

Open Discussion/Information Sharing

  • Lu Ann Stovall, our FBI coordinator, is working with Gail on setting up a meeting in February with Paul Fennewald, Homeland Security Director for Missouri. He has committed to attending the March or May InfraGard meeting.
  • Restore points in Microsoft are being looked at in forensics issues.
  • The Office of Administration tested the KillDisk software for sanitizing media and it worked well, as did degaussing.

Presentations

  • Paul Cordia gave a presentation on the Taum Sauk Reservoir breech in December, where over 1 billion gallons of water flushed out in 12 minutes.
  • Bronn Salmon from MSI Systems Integrators in St Louis, gave a presentation on IT Service Continuity Management. The slide presentation will be available on the SIIPC web site.

Future Meeting Dates

  • We are looking for a room for the upcoming March 9 meeting, possibly at the Highway Patrol.
  • The May 11 meeting is scheduled to be held in the Secretary of State Interpretive Center.
